Cookie policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

The short version: this site sets no cookies at all. No tracking, no analytics, no advertising, no session cookies. There is no cookie banner here because there is nothing to consent to.

The short version

qbwfileunlock.com sets no cookies whatsoever. Not for tracking, not for analytics, not for advertising, not for sessions. The only browser storage we use is described under Local storage below, which is not a cookie and is never transmitted to us.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, and to send back to the site on each subsequent visit. Cookies are commonly used to remember preferences, keep you signed in, and track activity across sites. Under UK data protection law, the use of cookies is regulated by the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR.

Payment is handled entirely by PayPal, on PayPal's own website

When you choose to pay, your browser leaves this site and goes to paypal.com. PayPal is a separate company running its own site under its own privacy and cookie policies, which we do not control and have not audited.

No PayPal cookies are set on qbwfileunlock.com, and we embed no PayPal code, script or frame on this site. Because payment happens on PayPal's own domain rather than inside our page, nothing PayPal stores ever reaches this site. You can verify this yourself: in your browser's developer tools, open Application → Cookies, and you will find no qbwfileunlock.com entries.

What PayPal sends back to us

So we can deliver your unlocked file, PayPal sends our server a payment notification containing the amount paid, the payment reference and your email address. That is not a cookie, and it involves no third party receiving data about your visit to this site. We use your email address only to send you the unlocked file and to handle any refund. Our privacy policy explains how long we keep it.

Cookies we do not use

Why we do not use analytics

The customers uploading their QuickBooks files are doing so on the assumption that the file is handled in private. We do not want any third party receiving metadata about who visits this site, when, from where, or how long they stay. That is also why there is no cookie banner — a banner is an admission that we track people, and we would rather not track you.

Local storage and similar technologies

We use your browser's localStorage for one purpose only: to remember your order reference and the name of the file you selected, so that if you refresh the page or come back later we can put you back where you left off instead of making you upload the file again.

What is storedWhyWhere it livesHow long
Your order reference and the file name you chose To resume an interrupted upload and show you the correct price On your device only — it is not sent to us by this mechanism Cleared when you finish, or within 24 hours

The file name may reveal something about your business (for example AcmeHoldings2026.qbw), which is why we deliberately keep it on your device rather than on our servers for this purpose. You can clear it at any time from your browser settings.

Your choices

Because we set no cookies, blocking cookies in your browser settings will not break this site. You can safely block all cookies and third-party cookies and still drop a file, upload it and pay. We do not use any cookies that would require consent under PECR.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if our use of cookies changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent change.
